You may remember that FDOT has been working on this since last year and this is our chance to see their ideas. You can find all the information on this project here: http://www.floridasturnpike.com/colonial-parkway.html.
What are the chances of this being built. Considering Hwy 50 is already over capacity as well as McCulloch Road, there doesn’t seem to be much of an alternative especially since “The Grow” will be starting in the next couple of years. Every week 1,000 more people move into Orange County and many of them coming to East Orange County. Our roads are becoming more and more congested every day.
Where does Bonilla, our commissioner, stand? She is against this roadway as noted by her vote a couple years ago when she was the only nay vote on the board to put this project on the Long Range Transportation Map. Since then she has repeatedly spoken against it because of her stance to protect the way of life of those people living in the rural area.
If you live in Corner Lakes or Cypress Lakes and work downtown, how would you like to jump on the 408 at Chuluota Road and cruise downtown instead of fighting traffic from Avalon Park Blvd. to the 408 at Woodbury? In no time traffic will be backed up to S, Tanner and then Chuluota and you commute becomes your daily nightmare.
