We the undersigned, owners of property within University Estates, are concerned about HB-1087 and the prospect it creates of a referendum near the end of 2019 that University Estates might be incorporated into the “new town” of Preservation without active consent to do so.
By signing this petition, we urge the University Estates Board of Directors to ascertain by vote, in a formal, expeditious and prioritized manner, the reaction of the residents of University Estates regarding the prospect of being incorporated into the new town. The urgency rises from the fact that should HB-1087 pass the legislature without amendment, even if University Estates is generally reluctant for this change to occur, the referendum might overwhelm our votes and we could be part of a new town without active consent.
We believe this vote should occur within the next ten calendar days. And we further urge the board to take an aggressive posture towards reacting to this situation, namely, publishing the results of the vote quickly and taking appropriate action promptly, based on the results of the vote.
Specifically, should the vote prove that University Estates owners prefer avoiding being incorporated into Preservation, we urge the board to take all necessary steps, including involving the HOA attorney, to advise all parties – the Legislature, our Representative Smith and Representative Plasencia, and the “Founders” of Preservation that we prefer to be left out of of the formation of the new town and would rather be in unincorporated Orange County, and to pursue a “friendly amendment” that would remove our community from the new town of Preservation.
We demand University Estates BOD take action on Referendum HB-1087Read the petition
